London, United Kingdom — 16 October 2026
Adtec Healthcare Limited is pleased to announce a major milestone in its planned U.S. expansion following the American Medical Association (AMA) CPT® Editorial Panel’s approval of two new Category III CPT codes specifically for microwave cold argon plasma wound therapy.
The new codes, scheduled to become effective on 1 January 2027, are:
- 1135T – Microwave cold argon plasma wound therapy, including debridement when performed, for the first 10 cm² or less of wound surface area.
- +1136T – Each additional 10 cm² of wound surface area, reported in addition to the primary procedure code.
These codes establish a dedicated coding pathway for reporting microwave cold argon plasma wound therapy within the U.S. healthcare system.
Supporting the pathway towards U.S. reimbursement
CPT codes provide a standardised language for reporting medical services and procedures and play an important role in clinical documentation and the submission of claims to third-party payers.
Following the necessary FDA regulatory clearance for its U.S. medical device, Adtec Healthcare expects the applicable CPT coding pathway to support healthcare providers in documenting and reporting eligible treatments and submitting claims for consideration by payers. Coverage and reimbursement will remain subject to individual payer policies, medical necessity requirements and other applicable conditions.
Mary McGovern, CEO of Adtec Healthcare Limited, said:
“For a new medical technology, achieving FDA clearance is only one part of the journey. The ability for clinicians to appropriately report a treatment within the U.S. healthcare system is also an important consideration for successful clinical adoption.
Having CPT Category III codes for microwave cold argon plasma wound therapy provides an important foundation for the future use of this technology in the United States. It is a significant milestone for Adtec Healthcare as we continue to progress our regulatory and commercialisation strategy.”
Working towards U.S. market entry
Adtec Healthcare is developing innovative cold plasma technology that uses microwave energy to generate cold argon plasma for therapeutic applications, including wound care. The company continues to progress its regulatory, clinical and commercialisation programme ahead of its planned U.S. launch, subject to the necessary FDA clearance.
Adtec Healthcare partnered with PRIA Healthcare, a leading medical device reimbursement, market access and regulatory consultancy, to develop and support the CPT Category III code application and advance the coverage and reimbursement strategy for microwave cold argon plasma wound therapy.
Mary McGovern added:
“We are extremely proud of this achievement. Our vision has always been to develop innovative technology that can ultimately be made accessible to clinicians and the patients who need new solutions for complex wounds. As we continue our work towards FDA clearance and our eventual U.S. launch, this represents another important step towards bringing our technology to American clinicians and patients.”
The approval of these dedicated CPT Category III codes marks an important milestone for Adtec Healthcare as the company continues working towards its planned U.S. market entry.
